I have been flirting with a male professor of mine all semester. He’s relatively
young and he’s single. He’s also really attractive.
After the final exam I asked him out for coffee. He took me up on the offer. He
was being flirty but vague about sex, like he has been doing all semester.
After the ‘date’ I couldn’t stand it anymore and I just asked him if he wanted
to have sex with me or not. He replied no, that he was flattered but he had to
be professional.
Well, you know what, he wasn’t being very professional this entire time, with
all the ogling and the suggestive comments.
What a douche.

I dunno… I would be kinda turned off if someone was so forward like that and just asked for sex. I mean… you just went out for coffee. Perhaps you would have gotten further if you had waited a few more dates? Maybe to him being “professional” is not having random sexual hookups. But who knows really.

2- I doubt that was the case. I phrased it well, it wasn’t blunt or anything. He also had a huge sheepish smile on his face when I asked him, so I think he was flattered and maybe a bit embarrassed.

Hmm… I think yes, he was flattered…but I also think he’s not really into you (in that way). The professional thing, to me, sounds like a bit of an excuse. I think so because you said he was being a bit vague about sex. Sometimes people act more flirty when they know someone likes them. So that could have been why he was acting that way all semester (and you are right, he really shouldn’t have done that).
I posted before about a TA of mine who was VERY flirty and even made very sexual comments to me for almost a year (put it this way, I know intimate things about his penis), then I found out he has a girlfriend in another country in medical school. Douche indeed!! But looking back on it, I’m glad I didn’t sleep with such a douche too, and you will feel the same.

I agree with #2 completely. That’s a little slutty IMHO to ask for sex after 1 date. Sorry he turned out to be a jerk. Better to know now than after you slept with him.

4, he has also been checking me out aggressively all semester, and we make prolonged eye contact when I go talk to him in his office. I’m pretty sure sleeping with me has at least crossed his mind. Although you might be right in that he was probably never serious about going through with it. He just enjoyed the fact that a young student would be interested in him and took the flirting way too far.
Also, just because your TA had a girlfriend doesn’t mean that he didn’t like you or wouldn’t have slept with you, for whatever that’s worth.
5, he vaguely hinted that he wanted to have sex with me while on the date, so that was the motivation behind my very bold move. I mean, it’s not like we were ever going to date seriously since our school prohibits that, so it would have to be some illicit affair.
