Confess it all at College Confessional

February 10, 2009

RN to MD at confesses,

I posted on here a while back about applying to nursing school with the hopes of
taking that knowledge and getting into medical school.

I GOT IN!!!

So, I wanted to tell the person who was concerned about the nursing shortage
that:

I will not disrespect the profession of nursing, and I will give 100% of myself
towards that discipline so that I may carry its holistic approach with me into
medicine.

I really hope that you and your friends will manage to get in to nursing school
as well, and I hope you will keep us updated on your progress.

Thank you for helping me keep an aware state of mind.

FYI nursing is NOT holistic. I was a nursing student. its all about giving people shit perscriptions, following drs orders, and protecting your license. you will be dispensing dangerous poisons to your patients. holistic is homeopathic, helath food, and no pharmies. thank you. nursing student/patient damaged bvy phamies.

Maybe the OP meant holistic in more of a caring, healing way? Like practicing from the heart? Yeah it’s not the right definition, but that’s what I got from it. I agree with you though #1, everything you said is true. I experienced that as well and was sorely disappointed by the realities of the medical world.

Regardless, CONGRATS OP!!! I remember your last thread, and I was hoping you would get in. You seem like a very driven person, and I wish you luck!!!

Don’t scare the OP with your liberal hippie garbage. Some holistic asshole once tried to tell me my cousin wouldn’t have died of AIDS if he drank orange juice. Give me a break.. He said it’s all a big government scam… But yes I do agree with #2, in that there are many doctors and nurses who are concerned with giving out too many drugs and concerned with a more caring, healing approach (my doc is one of them).

Anyways, good for you OP, follow your dreams. I got rejected from medical schools this year (one more school to hear from but I’m skeptical about it). Your passion and genuine concern for caring will be a breath of fresh air in the field. Good luck.

Wow, you guys (with the exception of #3) are a bunch of downers! I think the OP is refreshingly motivated, and inspired. I think that’s what the medical field needs, you know? Someone who can open their eyes, and have them sparkle. Not be a jaded skeptic, like most of the people you meet these days.

Good on you, OP. I wish you all the best in the world. With your passion, you’ll know no bounds.

  5. #2 Says:

I really do apologize if I came across as negative. I felt I was very encouraging towards the OP. I was genuinely happy that they were accepted, and I thought I expressed that. Sorry OP :(
I guess I was just kinda intrigued because I had a similar experience as #1 is all. #3 is right though, both practices have their obvious downsides. I think a mix of both is really the best way to go.

  6. Anonymous Says:

I agree with #4. I hate pharmaceutical companies and I agree there are too many people pushing pills - look at all those stupid commercials for pills for EVERY little problem!
I’m sure the OP will come across this in the medical field, but her motivation and passion for genuinely wanting to help people will help her avoid these pitfalls, I think.

I was the person who informed you of the nursing shortage. Congratulations on your acceptance! Good luck and I wish you all the best.

There is always naturopathic medicine, OP. Have you considered that?
