I can’t stand my sister. She’s 10 years my senior but acts like a teenager
still. She is 35 and has no man, has had the same dead end job for 15 years,
and is a bitter twisted woman.
When I got rejected from medical school last year, she looked at me and smiled
and said “aww, that’s too bad”. I showed her a picture of a tiny abstract
Scorpio tattoo I wanted, she commented tattoos were trashy and she’s too classy
for that (I’m only getting it on my ankle).
She puts down everything I do. I feel bad for cutting off contact with her,
but when I do start talking to her again, she insults me. I’m just trying to
be civil to her…
confession n. A written or oral statement acknowledging guilt, made by one who has been accused or charged with an offense.
It is the confession, not the priest, that gives us absolution.

It's kind of like being in someone's head while they're praying or thinking about things they'd never say outloud.

“no man”? That made me laugh. You started your post off insulting her, not stating how you feel. That’s very telling.
P.S. Tattoos can be nice, but a scorpion… on your ankle? Your sister’s right.

1. - A tattoo on an ankle isn’t trashy at all. It’s in a hidden spot (unless you wear flip flops), and I’d rather see that than see a tramp stamp with thong underwear hanging out from a girl’s waaaay too tight jeans. Get a grip.

OP - I should probably explain a bit more; my sister always insults my relationship, this is why I mentioned the fact that she doesn’t have anyone - I think she’s bitter about my relationship.
As for the tattoo, it’s not an “actual” scorpion picture, I didn’t want that, so I got an abstract drawing/representation of a scorpion. I asked at least 5 friends for their opinion on it and they all thought it looked simple and classy. And yes I am getting it on my ankle since I rarely wear skirts anyways, no one will see it but me.

I agree #2. I have tattoos on both ankles, and one on my rib, 99% of the time they’re hidden unless I’m on the beach in a bathing suit. As long as the OP doesn’t go crazy and get them done all over her, I don’t think they’re that trashy.

My tattoos are hidden… if I wear long sleeves and a crew neck lol I think you’re right: you’re sister is just bitter. Either tell her to knock it off, or distance yourself until she grows up. Personally, my brother thinks if I tell him anything good, that I’m throwing it in his face (like “I’m presenting at a conference!” is taken as “You didn’t go to college!” when I’m just trying to share my good news). I don’t talk to him very much and I feel better without the negative force in my life.

#5 - LOL!!! I laughed so hard, my sister is the same way… For example, a family friend got married and the woman sent out a very long-winded, hand written thank you note for all the gifts… My sister read it and thought the woman was insulting her since she’s divorced, because there was a lot of big words etc, in the note she thought she was insulting her intelligence… Thanks #5 to know I’m not the only one :)

I think your sister is my brother’s secret twin! You should have heard his comments when our sister got her PhD and sent us pictures and her dissertation… I hope things get better on the sister-front and I’m glad to have made you feel a little better :)
