I hate political bullshit in the academe. I feel like I’m constantly going
against my principles just to maintain a job - a shite one, at that. They are
totally exploitative to adjuncts, yet I knew that going in. Goodness.
confession n. A written or oral statement acknowledging guilt, made by one who has been accused or charged with an offense.
It is the confession, not the priest, that gives us absolution.
— Oscar Wilde
It's kind of like being in someone's head while they're praying or thinking about things they'd never say outloud.

Stick to your beliefs/principles no matter what. If you need to leave the job, then leave. You will only make yourself feel like crap in the end if you go against your principles.

What kind of person are you going to be?
One that wallows in the bullshit, and contributes to the fracture?
Or one that flips them all the bird and stands on your own two feet?

Well, #’s 1 and 2, it’s not as easy as that. I did that once; stood up for myself, told my employer to go screw himself and quit, thinking I’d find something else really soon. Seven years later, I have finally found another job, at a cost of probably close to $500,000 in lost salary over those years. It was a great feel good move that financially devastated my family.
I learned from experience that “wallowing in the bullshit” may be the least of one’s worries.

You have a family, and you quit your job and told your boss to go screw himself BEFORE finding another job first??? Sorry, but that’s a really really dumb move.
Next time, find something else first (or at LEAST get a bunch of interviews) before quitting. Geez, no wonder you let people walk all over you.
