I’m in a Ph.D. program, and I’m so burnt out now. I wake up each day thinking,
“God, can I make it out?” I just hope I don’t give up before I actually get the
degree. How stupid would that be?
confession n. A written or oral statement acknowledging guilt, made by one who has been accused or charged with an offense.
It is the confession, not the priest, that gives us absolution.
— Oscar Wilde
It's kind of like being in someone's head while they're praying or thinking about things they'd never say outloud.

If you don’t really like what you’re doing, then getting out early makes more sense than gutting it out. It ain’t for everyone.
If you do like it and you’re just tired, then the best I can do is remind you that grad school is more like a marathon than a sprint. Buckle up and prepare for the long haul. And don’t expect anyone to ever say anything nice about your work.

It’s more like I went into the wrong specialization in the right field. I want to do something else, but I’ve put so much time and energy into what I’m doing already, it would be a bad move to switch to what I want to do instead. Instead of being interesting, fulfilling work, it’s more like a chore…

If it’s the right field…just tough it out..you’re almost there…you can do it!! Then you can always go onto what you truly desire afterwards..that’s the whole point of school, to figure out what you want to do…

no stupider than wasting time doing something you hate simply because you’re too proud to do something else. Quit. The job market is already full of people who DO love what they’re doing and can’t get a job anyway.
